Melasma

Melasma is a term used to describe pigmentation related to hormone change and UVA/ UVB rays. It most often appears in symmetrical patches on the cheeks, chin, upper lip and forehead. Melasma is often referred to as “the pregnancy mask” and can often last for years after your pregnancy is over. Common causes include pregnancy, oral contraceptives, menopause and hormone replacement medications.
